First New Jersey baby of 2005 born nine minutes after midnight in Brick

(01/01/05) BRICK - The first baby born in New Jersey in 2005 was Santiago Cevallos from Brick Township. Nine minutes after midnight on New Year's Day, the seven pound, thirteen ounce baby boy was born at Ocean County Medical Center.

His mother, Angela, says she was shocked to learn her child was born first in the entire state. It is the first child for the Cevallos family of Seaside Heights. The couple immigrated to the U.S. from Colombia five years ago. Mom and baby are expected to leave the hospital and return home on Monday.

It is the first time that the first New Jersey baby of a new year has been born at Ocean County Medical Center.
