Road crews, residents of Bergen County prepare for the winter storm

With winter weather already hitting Northern New Jersey Wednesday, road crews and residents in Bergen County prepared for the snow and ice.

Residents visited their local hardware stores to pick up supplies such as shovels and salt for the storm. In Hackensack, the Bergen County Road crews spent the day loading their trucks with rock salt and sand.

Bergen County Executive Dennis McNerney is asking people to be careful when driving. McNerney says while there may not be a lot of snow in the forecast, there will be a lot of ice, which is even more dangerous.

Road crews will be working throughout the night to try and make the roads safer for the morning commute. Drivers are urged to reduce speeds and give themselves extra travel time.
