Winter storm brings snow and ice to northern New Jersey

Road crews are out in force in northern and central areas of the Garden State where a wintry mix of rain, sleet and snow continues to fall.

The roads are expected to be slick and icy for commuters Thursday morning; drivers are being urged to allow extra travel time for the morning commute.The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for Bergen, Morris, Passaic, Sussex and Warren counties. Forecasters say anywhere from three to eight inches of snow could fall in northern areas.

A winter weather advisory is in effect for Essex, Hudson, Hunterdon, Somerset and Union counties.
