Police say hit-and-run accident in Lyndhurst sends young couple to hospital

(01/08/05) LYNDHURST - Police say a Lyndhurst couple was hospitalized after the driver of an SUV knocked them down and sped off at a residential intersection.

Cops say the accident happened on the corner of Second and Livingston avenues Friday evening as the couple was taking a stroll. The victims, a man and a woman both in their 20s, are listed in stable condition with internal injuries and broken bones.

Authorities say the SUV sustained some front-end damage. They are using parts left over from the accident to try and identify the exact make and model of the vehicle.

Members of the Lyndhurst Police Department and the Bergen County Fatal Accident Investigation Team are urging anyone with information about the accident to contact them.
