Eatontown residents debate proposed school renovation plans
(01/10/05) EATONTOWN ? Parents continue to discuss proposed plans aimed at upgrading Eatontown?s aging schools.
Many parents in the area say the town?s schools, some of which were built more than 50 years ago, are in desperate need of upgrades. A referendum will be held September 27 in which parents will vote on additional funding for school upgrades.
The options for Memorial Middle School are at the center of a debate among Eatontown residents. While some parents want the school renovated, others want an entirely new middle school built for the town?s children. According to school officials, the 49-year-old school lacks the size and facilities needed to accommodate students.
