Second child approached by possible cop imposter in Chatham Borough

(01/17/05) CHATHAM BOROUGH ? Police say a second child in Chatham Borough has been approached by a man who may be posing as a police officer.

The latest incident occurred in a CVS parking lot on Main Street. According to investigators, the suspect approached a 12-year-old girl and began asking her a series of questions. The child says the man asked for, among other things, her name and address. The young girl also claims the man was wearing what appeared to be a gold police badge on his belt.

Last week, a 13-year-old boy told authorities an individual claiming to be a policeman searched his backpack. Police do not believe the two incidents are connected.
