Investigators start sifting through aftermath of deadly Perth Amboy blast
(01/26/05) PERTH AMBOY ? Both federal and local investigators have started piecing together the events that led up to a deadly Perth Amboy industrial plant explosion.
Three people were killed and one man was seriously injured when an explosion rocked the ASCO Acetylene Service Company plant Tuesday morning. The blast took the lives of 32-year-old Enio Perez, 29-year-old Pablo Morillo and 46-year-old German Vasquez. Jovany Pena Gomez has been upgraded from critical to fair condition at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital.
According to fire department officials, the explosion occurred as the men were transferring acetylene from a container to a tanker on the plant?s loading dock. A spokesperson for the Perth Amboy Fire Department says local, state and federal investigators are all cooperating with each other to find the exact cause of the blast.
