Operation Guardian sting nets 39 child pornography arrests in New Jersey

(01/27/05) TRENTON ? New Jersey Attorney General Peter Harvey says a combination of hard work and hi-tech led to the breakup of a statewide child pornography ring.

According to Harvey, officers participating in Operation Guardian used a cutting edge computer lab to track 39 individuals using the Internet to swap disturbing photos and videos. The Hamilton-based Regional Computer Forensic Laboratory used in the investigation is one of only two such facilities in the East. The other is located in Buffalo, New York.

Investigators say the ages of those arrested range from 14 to 61. Among those taken into custody are a registered sex offender, a lawyer, a pediatrician and a high school hockey coach.
