Bryam Township is considering ban on ATVs on all township property

Bryam Township is considering a ban on all terrain vehicles (ATV) on any township property. They are already illegal in the township and state parks.

Some township officials believe ATVs tear up the landscape and destroy trees and shrubs. Other residents are bothered by the noise of ATVs. There is also concern after the Consumer Product Safety Report found that ATV-related deaths were on the rise. The report said about one third of the deaths and injuries since 1982 were children under 16 years old. Store owners who sell ATVs say there are safety tips available and age restrictions are clearly marked on the vehicles.

Bryam Township plans to hold a public hearing and vote on the issue on February 7.
