Newark residents protest officers' actions in fatal shooting

? Relatives of a man fatally shot by police in Newark say the officers involved in the incident went too far.

The protests surround an incident in which officers shot and killed 26-year-old Rasheed Moore Monday. According to police, a man sitting in an automobile with Moore attempted to grab an officer?s gun. Authorities say they then fired on Moore when he tried to drive off while dragging the officer along with the vehicle.

However, Moore?s family insists authorities unnecessarily opened fire on an unarmed man. Relatives and activists now want an independent investigation into the shooting. They also want the officers who shot Moore fired.

The Newark Police Department would not comment on the case because the incident is still under investigation.
