Blaze tears through three multi-family buildings in Union City

(02/11/05) UNION CITY ? Twenty-two people have been left without a home after a fire tore through three multi-family homes in Union City.

Fire officials say high winds fed the fire and caused it to spread from a second-floor apartment to adjoining structures on either side. Despite receiving reports that someone was trapped in one of the buildings, firefighters now say they have not found any victims.

The blaze occurred on the heels of an earlier fire in West New York Thursday night. Due to the West New York incident, the Red Cross already has a nearby shelter established and ready to accept displaced residents from the Union City fire.
