Jefferson police nab two teens for string of car break-ins

(02/11/05) JEFFERS0N ? Jefferson Township police say they have arrested two teens in connection with a string of Lake Hopatcong car break-ins.

According to police, 18-year-old Christopher Unger and an unidentified 15-year-old are responsible for 15 of the 21 reported incidents. Authorities also say two more arrests are on the way. A police spokesperson says investigators got the break they needed when Unger used a stolen credit card from one of the vehicles to pay his cell phone bill.

Police officials are urging residents to properly secure their cars to prevent any types of theft. According to Jefferson police, many of the residents victimized by the two teens made the crimes easier by leaving their cars unlocked.
