Travelers concerned after woman gets past Newark Airport security with a knife

Some travelers are concerned Monday after a woman got through a checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport with a knife over the weekend.

The woman says she left a butcher knife in her purse after a blind date. Airport officials say the woman noticed the knife inside her purse after she was able to get past security screeners and she immediately contacted authorities.

Some people flying out of Newark think the screener should be retrained, while others feel that person should be fired. However, some international travelers say the security is better in Newark than it is in England.

According to the Transportation Security Administration, the screener was removed from the checkpoint and will undergo remedial training.
