Eight people nabbed in New Jersey MVC license scheme

(02/15/05) TRENTON ? Investigators say increased security at New Jersey?s Motor Vehicle Commission led to the arrest of eight people involved in a fake license scheme.

According to police, one of the people nabbed in the crackdown was MVC employee Darnell Brickers. Authorities say Brickers illegally issued genuine New Jersey driver?s licenses for a fee of approximately $2,500. A state police spokesperson says the unlawful issuing of such documents poses a major post-9/11 security threat.

Tighter security has been implemented at MVC locations to help authorities catch people involved in similar schemes. Police officials say the arrests may not be instantaneous, but those breaking the law will be caught somewhere down the line.
