Cops seize millions from cash-laden semi in Cranbury

(02/17/05) CRANBURY ? State Police say they have made the largest cash seizure in New Jersey history Thursday after troopers found approximately $5.3 million stashed in the back of a truck in Cranbury.

Police say they began watching the truck because it had been idling in the area for two days. According to authorities, the driver of the semi began acting suspicious while troopers questioned him. Police officials say when troopers searched the back of the truck, they found six 100-pound boxes of cash in the sleeping compartment.

A spokesperson for the New Jersey State Police Department says the cash may be linked to narcotics activity. Investigators are now questioning the truck?s driver, 46-year-old Salvador DelaRosa of California.
