Fire damages home and an auto body shop in Brick Township

? A destructive fire damaged an auto body shop and an adjacent private home in Brick Township on Saturday. Investigators believe the fast moving fire started in the auto body shop. A mechanic was working on a 1988 Cadillac when the fire broke out. Investigators are focusing on the car's gas tank, fuel lines and a portable light the mechanic was using as the cause of the fire. The auto shop owner, Robert McNeeley, told investigators that he and the auto mechanic scrambled to minimize the damage, however, the accelerants in the garage and the fire's speed and ferocity overwhelmed them. Belinda Mauro, the property owner, says once her family salvages what they can from the damaged home they plan on moving.
