Planned condos spark controversy among Pompton Lakes residents

(01/13/06) RIVERDALE ? A planned condo complex is stirring up controversy among residents in Pompton Lakes.

The 425-unit complex, planned for construction in Riverdale, has some residents worried about flooding near the Pequannock River. Residents say flooding has already been a problem, and they are worried the construction project will make the situation worse. Officials in Pompton Lakes were forced to move many residents and knock down about 20 homes to make room for the river.

While Pompton Lakes residents are against the project, Riverdale residents are all for it. Those living in Riverdale say their property values may skyrocket after the condos are built.
