(01/24/06) EDISON ? Many residents say they have fears about preliminary development plans slated for the old Ford site in Edison.

The Hartz Mountain company plans on constructing senior housing, two large stores, a movie theater and restaurants at the site. While many people believe Edison is in need of senior housing, they don?t believe the area needs any more large stores. Those living in Edison fear the addition of the stores will create a traffic nightmare near the location.

Officials in Edison plan on conducting an independent traffic study related to the project. Edison Mayor Jun Choi says the plans are preliminary and no final decisions have been made on the future of the site.
