Two former police officers arrested in Nutley drug raid

Posted: Updated:

(01/25/06) NUTLEY ? Police in Nutley arrested two former law enforcement officers on drug-related charges Wednesday.

The arrests were part of an investigation into drug distribution in the area. Investigators say the trail led them to the apartment of 39-year-old David Moran, a former officer with the Nutley Police Department. Also present in the condo were 25-year-old Amy Essing of Totowa and 43-year-old Anthony Tortorella, a former officer with the Orange Police Department.

Police say they seized drugs at the condo, and they are convinced the narcotics were not for personal use. They believe the drugs were part of a much larger operation. Moran is free on $20,000 bail. Essing and Tortorella were released without bail.
