(02/06/06) BELMAR ? Leaders hope an ongoing Belmar Marina renovation project will attract more than just fishermen to the waterfront.

Belmar Mayor Ken Pringle says the facelift will open up the marina to residents who enjoy various activities along the river. The project includes 70 new slips for boaters and a walkway. In addition, ideas for a restaurant or marine education center are also being discussed.

The price tag for the renovation is estimated at $14 million. That money will be supplied through current revenue generated by the marina.
