(02/15/06) EAST BRUNSWICK ? Two suspects are in police custody following a violent robbery outside an East Brunswick Walgreen?s.

Police say the two suspects approached a couple sitting in their car at 2 a.m. Tuesday morning. According to investigators, the robbers opened the car door, sprayed the two individuals with mace and stabbed the male victim several times. Authorities say the criminals hit a ?target of opportunity,? which is an unusual occurrence in the area where the crime took place.

The suspects fled the parking lot after the crime, but they didn?t get very far. New Brunswick police officers located the duo an hour later based on their vehicle description. They are now in jail charged with robbery, aggravated assault and unlawful possession of a weapon.
