Parents, educators fight to keep Jersey City Catholic school open

(02/17/06) JERSEY CITY ? Parents and administrators are getting one final shot to stop the possible closure of a 93-year-old Jersey City Catholic school.

Educators at St. Aedan School say a declining number of student enrollments may force the facility to close its doors for good. Concerned parents say the school?s small class sizes and curriculum are integral to the academic success of their children. Now, the archdiocese is giving parents and educators until next Friday to boost enrollment by a certain number.

If the enrollment drive is successful, educators say the archdiocese will revisit the school?s status.
