Firefighters battle marathon blaze and ice at Branchburg warehouse

Posted: Updated:

? Firefighters continued to battle flames and bitter cold Friday night at a warehouse fire in Branchburg that started around noon.

While firefighters are not worried about the flames spreading, they are concerned materials inside the warehouse, like tar paper, will keep the fire burning. A manager at the Bradco Roofing Supply Company says the expansive warehouse is largely made of wood. Firefighters have also been battling high winds and low temperatures. They say ice has slowed their efforts. Fire departments will take turns relieving each other throughout the night.

An official with the company believes the fire started when two propane tanks exploded. He says the flames shot up 40 to 50 feet. The 15 employees who were at work at the time made it out safely.
