Two dead, two injured in Old Bridge plane crash

Posted: Updated:

Two people are dead and two injured after a small plane crashed in Old Bridge Sunday night.

Investigators say Staten Island resident Steven Ben-Hanania was flying the twin-engine Piper when it crashed in an area off Pension Road. Ben-Hanania and his wife, Shirry, were both killed. Their two children, 13-year-old Amber and 12-year-old Adam, were found alive at the scene and taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick.

Authorities say thick fog may be to blame for the crash. According to investigators, one of the plane's wings may have hit a treetop near the Old Bridge Airport. National Transportation and Safety Board representatives are at the scene investigating.
