Burglars target North Caldwell homes during recent robbery spree

(03/15/06) NORTH CALDWELL ? Police are warning residents in North Caldwell about a rash of recent burglaries that have taken place in the area.

Investigators believe two individuals are responsible for the string of robberies in the Grandview Avenue area. According to police, the robbers appear to have jewelry on the top of their wish lists for each break-in. Authorities say the robbers sometimes park in a home?s driveway, break-in around back and head straight for rooms likely to contain jewelry.

Police believe the robbers are targeting homes near Grandview Avenue because the roadway offers a quick route out of town. Four homes have been robbed in the past two weeks. Police have released a composite sketch of one of the suspected robbers.
