Some young players were plotting their moves in Hudson County?s Chess Championship in Jersey City.
Bayonne resident David Somers, 9, is one of more than 100 child chess players participating in this year?s tournament. Somers has been at it since he was four. Bobby Stewart, who is a coordinator for the Kings Knight Chess Club, says the game helps young and adult players master concentration, sacrifice and anticipation.
The winner of the tournament will take home a trophy.
