Police reveal name of officer involved in Ringwood Park shooting
(04/03/06) MAHWAH ? The Mahwah Police Department released more information Monday about a weekend incident in which a state parks officer shot a man near Ringwood State Park.
The police department has identified the officer involved in the shooting as Chad Walder. In an address to an overflow crowd, Mahwah Police Chief James Batelli said Walder is answering questions from the prosecutor?s office. Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the shooting of 43-year-old Emil Mann Saturday. Relatives at the scene say an altercation between Mann family members and the officer led to the shooting.
Family members of the victim say they are angry Mann did not receive medical attention more quickly after the shooting. Mann remains in critical condition at Hackensack University Medical Center. Batelli told the crowd that the shooting could be referred to a grand jury.
