(04/26/06) SOUTH PLAINFIELD ? A brawl in the parking lot of South Plainfield High School earlier this week has sparked increased security measures at the facility.

Police say the fight began when one female student jumped another girl in the school?s parking lot on Lane Avenue. According to police, one of the girls brought along 15 friends and relatives to help with the fight. Witnesses say things escalated out of control very quickly. A school official and a school employee were both injured in the altercation.

Police say someone shot video footage of the melee with a cell phone. However, that footage will not be made public because it contains minors. Police patrols have been stepped up as a result of the incident. Officers will be around before, during and after school. Three people have been resulted in connection with the fight.
