(05/03/06) SOUTH AMBOY ? Residents in South Amboy are reeling Wednesday following the brutal double murder of a grieving family.

Mary Jane Beckman lost her husband over the weekend following surgery. Mary Jane?s daughter, Donna Palladino, was staying at her parents? home as the family prepared for the father?s wake. Police say Palladino?s husband, Joseph, went to the Beckman home early Wednesday and murdered both his wife and her mother. Donna Palladino had obtained a restraining order against her husband Tuesday.

Police say Donna Palladino was stabbed in the torso while she slept in the living room. Investigators found her in the kitchen with a single gunshot to the back of the head. Beckman was found on the second floor with multiple stab wounds and a slit throat. According to police, Joseph Palladino later killed himself by jumping off a bridge.
