Hi-tech flood help on the way for Lincoln Park

(05/04/06) LINCOLN PARK ? Police in Lincoln Park are about to get some hi-tech help in their flood warning duties.
Lincoln Park?s location, between the Passaic and Pompton rivers, makes the area prone to frequent flooding. However, a new electronic system will give police the jump in their efforts to warn and possibly evacuate residents in the event of a flood. The new system will electronically relay information on water levels, flow and rates of rise to the police dispatch center.
Currently, officers must manually check the water levels at 13 gauges in the town. The mayor says that type of duty is often time consuming and dangerous. The new electronic system will be funded through a $30,000 federal grant.
