Original slogan for New Jersey not so original after all

(05/09/06) TRENTON ? New Jersey has struck out again in its attempt to coin a tourism slogan.
Although ?New Jersey: Come See For Yourself? was chosen as the winner in an online contest, it has been discovered that West Virginia has already used that phrase. State officials say New Jersey needs something original, so they have scrapped the slogan. That move has many residents questioning the time and money invested in the effort. However, other residents say New Jersey is a unique state that deserves a unique slogan.
The latest miscue marks the second time in a year New Jersey has had to abandon a slogan. Last year, former Governor Richard Codey (D-NJ) nixed ?We?ll Win You Over.? Codey felt that phrase was too negative.
