Crews clean up Paterson freight train derailment

Crews are still working Wednesday to clean up a Paterson freight train derailment.
Officials say seven cars from a 66-car freight line derailed Tuesday night in the area of East 18th Street and Broadway. No one was injured in the accident; however, a car wash on East 16th Street was completely destroyed. According to officials, the train was hauling construction debris from Ridgefield Park to New York.
No toxic materials were spilled in the crash. The derailment did not affect passenger service. Federal Railroad Administration investigators will be on the scene to look into why and how the derailment happened.
