New Jersey beaches open for business after budget crisis ends
New Jersey residents wasted no time heading to Cheesequake State Park?s beach in Matawan Sunday after the budget crisis officially ended.
Beachgoers lined up before the 8 a.m. reopen time for all state parks. Many say they feel the closures were unnecessary and unfair. About 42 state parks closed days after the governor ordered a government shutdown July 1. Several patrons said they were unsure when beaches would reopen and found some facilities still closed Saturday. Park officials say operations are back on track and running smoothly.
