Warren cheerleader collapses, dies at practice

The Warren community is grieving the loss of a young cheerleader who collapsed on the field.

Watchung Hills Pop Warner officials say 11-year-old Janet Zilinski's fellow cheerleaders had just voted her a team captain Thursday before she fell after running a half lap. The girl's parents are coaches and were on the field at the time. Witnesses say an ambulance arrived quickly, but Zilinski later died at the hospital.

The community has pledged $20,000 to the family and a garden will be set up in the cheerleader's honor.
