Edison high school students bid night sports games good-bye

School officials in Edison citing security concerns announced a ban on most sports games held at night. Many high schools in the U.S. play football games on Friday nights. For two Edison high schools, football games will now be played on Saturday afternoons. The district says while plays happen down on the field, trouble occurs up in the bleachers. Students say they are outraged over the ban. Players brought parents and petitions to a school board meeting Monday night. District officials could not provide News 12 New Jersey with any recent examples of violence at nighttime sporting events. However officials did point out the beating of a student 10 years ago as a turning point in school security.
