Alleged Bonnie and Clyde's Elmwood Park bank robbery foiled
An alleged Bonnie and Clyde?s plan to rob an Elmwood Park bank was partially foiled by one suspect?s forgetfulness.
Police say 25-year-old Heather Clifton was waiting in a parked car down the block from a Wachovia branch Friday while James Samson was holding up a teller. Samson allegedly showed a handgun and demanded money. He then jumped over the counter and took nearly $1,400, but officials say Samson did not have a bag. Neighbors say they saw the robber running down Elizabeth Avenue, dropping nearly $1,200 along the way.
Officers captured Clifton during a traffic stop, but Samson had separated from her by that time. Samson surrendered at a police station Saturday. The suspects are being held on $1 million bond.
