Troubling discovery sparks lockdown at Elizabeth High School
(10/13/06) ELIZABETH ? Students and faculty at Elizabeth High School encountered some frightening moments Friday when the school was temporarily locked down.
School administrators say two bullets were discovered in the building, sparking the lockdown at around 9 a.m. During that time, students and teachers were not allowed to leave their classrooms and no one was allowed in or out of the building. Police K-9 units swept through the entire school, but nothing else was found.
Administrators would not disclose the exact location where the bullets were found. They say they initiated the lockdown as a precaution based on recent school shootings in the United States and Canada. The emergency measure was lifted after about two and a half hours.
