U.S. Senate candidates Kean, Menendez try to win over last-minute voters
The candidates for the U.S. Senate seat in New Jersey spent Monday targeting key voters on the last day of campaigning before the general election.Republican candidate Tom Kean Jr. met with residents of the Cedar Crest Village senior housing complex in Pompton Plains. Kean was unwavering in his campaign themes of lowering taxes and cleaning up government corruption. Meanwhile, Democratic Senator Bob Menendez campaigned at the Elmwood Park Senior Center. Menendez, appointed to the Senate and now running for his first full term, has made opposition to the Iraq war his main issue, which hit home with many voters at the center.
