Newark police launch homicide investigation into girl's death

Police in Newark are investigating the death of a young girl this weekend, calling the case a homicide.

Police say 5-year-old Charlice Young, who lived with her mother, mother's boyfriend and another man in an apartment on Esther Street, was rushed to the hospital Sunday. She was pronounced dead there later that day.

The medical examiner performed an autopsy yesterday, but the results have not been released. No charges have been filed yet.
