American flag hung upside down at Turkish center in Manalapan

An American flag flying outside a Turkish-American Community Center in Manalapan may have been the subject of a prank, officials say. Protesters took photographs of the flag, which was hanging upside down next to a pair of Turkish flags. The center's president said the organization has proudly flown both nations' flags for more than 20 years, and has likely been pranked.

"I'm very sorry this happened," a community center representative said. "We want to make sure this cannot happen, and I'm not going to be afraid to hang the flags up."

Some local residents said they feared the incident was in response to the death of Osama bin Laden, which the community center quickly denounced.
