NJ Transit unveils new locomotives in Newark

New Jersey Transit unveiled its new generation of locomotives today at Newark Penn Station.

The 35 new trains, which were ordered for about $8.5 million each, will begin hitting the tracks next year. The locomotives are the first to use both diesel power and overhead electric power.

The locomotives are said to be more fuel efficient, which makes them more environmentally friendly and cost effective.
