Police: Branchburg sixth-grader had gun on bus

A Branchburg sixth-grader brought a gun on a school bus Wednesday, according to the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office.

Officials say a student texted her parents that the boy pulled out a gun from his backpack on the bus.

According to authorities, the student's parents notified police, who escorted the boy off the bus when it arrived at Central Middle School.

Officials say the gun was unloaded and no students were threatened.
