Student stabbed in Passaic H.S. fight
As students tried to make their way into school, authorities say a fight broke out between two 16-year-old students, leaving one student stabbed.
Officials say the student suffered multiple stab wounds, one just missing his heart. Another pierced a lung. He was rushed to the hospital and is in guarded condition.
The fight didn't take place on school property, but School Superintendent Dr. Robert Holster says he's more concerned about who contributed to the fight.
Holster says he would now like the right to remove all students 18 and over who have zero credits toward graduation. It turns out one of those 18-year-old students may have supplied the knife used in the stabbing.
Based on information provided by other students, school resource officers had the names of students involved within minutes and soon had them in custody.
Police will be charging the 16-year-old stabbing suspect with attempted murder and weapons possession. They are still investigating the role the 18-year-old allegedly played in the fight.
