Alfaro gets more than 200 years in Newark schoolyard murders
Alexander Alfaro, 20, was sentenced today to 212 years in prison for the Newark schoolyard murders of Iofemi Hightower, DeShawn Harvey and Terrance Ariel, as well as the attack and robbery of Natasha Aerial.
Alfaro was 16 when he took part in the murders of the three college-bound friends back in Aug. 2007. He is the third defendant to be convicted and sentenced to more than 200 years in prison in the triple slaying.
During today's sentencing, the judge indicated that Alfaro has never showed remorse or apologized for his actions.
The judge said Alfaro was the one who stabbed Hightower with a machete in the attack.
