Gov. Christie challenged on radio about women's health clinics
Gov. Chris Christie had an on-air war of words with state Sen. Loretta Weinberg on the topic of women's health clinics yesterday.
During Christie's "Ask the Governor" segment on New Jersey 101.5, Weinberg called in and questioned him about his decision to cut more than $7 million in funding for women's health clinics. Six of the state's clinics have shut down, while the others now have reduced hours.
Some of the clinics perform abortions, which Christie said has nothing to do with his decision. "Women still have extensive access to health care all across the state of New Jersey through other clinics that are still open," the governor said.
State lawmakers say they will decide on whether to restore funding to the clinics in a vote scheduled for Monday.
