Six Flags Great Adventure opening new roller coaster, safari park

News 12 New Jersey's Alice Gainer is at Six Flags Great Adventure today, scoping out the park's latest attractions.

This season marks the first for The Green Lantern, the newest addition to the park's roller coaster fleet. The coaster is 15 stories high, drops riders at a 45-degree angle and hits a top speed of 63 mph. Construction began in the fall of 2009. The latest addition is open today for season pass holders.

Also new to Six Flags is Safari Discoveries, a wild animal exhibit separate from the long-standing Wild Safari. Safari Discoveries houses animals ranging from European brown bears to California seal lions, and is located inside the Golden Kingdom section of the theme park.
