Coast Guard hosts open house in Sandy Hook

As the skies finally cleared today, many families seized the opportunity for some maritime fun and visited the U.S. Coast Guard station in Sandy Hook for an open house event.

The station opened its vessel doors to the public for tours. Some of the visitors were families of auxiliary members, while others said they came because they're interested in boating.

The open house marked the start of National Safe Boating Week, when the Coast Guard teams up with boating organizations to promote boating safety.
