Ramsey Board of Education votes unanimously to limit speech

A North Jersey school board decided unanimously yesterday to silence teachers by limiting what they can say in school.

The controversial decision came down last night in Ramsey. The Ramsey Board of Education calls it "Maintaining a Non-Disruptive Environment in a School Setting," a policy that prohibits employees from "campaigning" on school property, which means no picketing, no politics and no opinions anywhere students are present.

The policy allows school employees to campaign in their free time or break periods, as long as students are not around and won't likely hear what they're saying.
