NJ beaches charging more for seasonal passes

New Jersey residents will have to spend more to visit select New Jersey beaches this summer.

Approximately 15 of the state's 43 beaches that require beach badges are raising their rates for a second summer in a row. The increase ranges anywhere from $2 to $10.

As for getting out this weekend, beachgoers are urged to lather up with sunscreen and watch for lifeguards. Lifeguards on the shores of Long Branch say they will have 18 stands open this weekend, but sections of the town's 2 miles of beaches will be unprotected.
