Trespasser incident snarls NJ Transit trains

(AP) - New Jersey Transit says its trains operating westbound from Newark Penn Station are experiencing 10- to15-minute delays due to a trespasser incident on the tracks inNewark.

Trains on the Northeast Corridor Line, North Jersey Coast Lineand Raritan Valley Line are affected.

NJ Transit spokeswoman Penny Bassett Hackett said trains werestopped briefly around 6 p.m. because of a person on the tracks.She said the person was not hit by a train, but trains were halteduntil the person could be safely removed.

Earlier Tuesday, Amtrak and New Jersey Transit trains on theNortheast Corridor were halted for about 90 minutes by a gas leakin Elizabeth.
